Project GreenPeace

It’s been a while since I did a good deed for Mother Nature. Heck, make it never. So when an opportunity for me too redeem myself came by, I didn’t hesitate to put my ass on the line to save some poor sea creatures. And thank goodness, 2 other souls, Josh and Mike, thought likewise, and we devised Project GreenPeace to release 2 seahorses back into the sea held captive by some money-hungry, self centered beach resort at Port Dickson.

Project GreenPeace was scheduled to get into action at 3 am on one chilly, breezy night. We headed down to the pool café where the poor, hapless creatures froze on a platform. Our hearts sank to watch it suffer like that. Why cant we treat Mother Nature like how we treat ourselves so lovingly. We must free these seahorses!

We took a picture of the first seahorse for remembrance. We wanted to document our rescue efforts. And maybe some day, hand it over to National Geographic, so they can show the world the atrocities of man towards Mother Nature. With all passion and angst, we posed beside the sea creatures, without the security guards on duty knowing that it’ll be the last time they see their captive seahorses.

We waited till the coast was clear. When the lights went off, we went into action. Lifting the seahorse was a real pain. It was so heavy, the 3 of us had to strain every nerve to lift it from its base, while glancing at the back of us for security personnel. Then after huffing and puffing for 2 minutes, we managed to lift it and drag it to the beach. We placed it on the sand, and decided to catch our breath. While at that, we took another picture, with arrogant, proud poses.

It was time to drag the seahorse all the way back to the sea. With one final effort, we dragged it and released it into the sea. We went back for the second seahorse and did the same all over again.

We took one final picture. Bye seahorse! You’re now finally free. Swim to the ends of the sea, and reunite with your family. Never will another man, ruin your life and hold you captive once again. Warn all the other seahorses. Unite and fight the evil ways of men, should they invade your lives again.

We shed tears as we bade them farewell. They turned back, giving us one last look in gratitude for releasing them. We were happy. Project GreenPeace was an astounding success. It was just a small way in giving back to mother nature, saying thanks for the air that we breathe, the water that we drink, and the land that we walk on.

We sneaked back to our apartment, with a lighter heart, laughing all the way. We were proud of ourselves. We vowed to continue Project GreenPeace. Because, we’re here to save Mother Nature in our very own unique way. A way that’s ONLY seen as noble in our eyes, and advocates of Project GreenPeace. It won’t be the last this world hears from us.
